I'll dominate 'credible combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round fight which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Briton Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "overpower" the American as the combatants met personally to promote the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Former two time world boxing king Anthony Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Fighter's Mentality
"I will injure his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, declared.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I intend to genuinely try to injure him. That's my intention."
Respectful Interaction
In spite of those words, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically famous for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Jake Paul instead targeted former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and labeled him "a joke" after Ngannou declined a bout proposal.
Targeting Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK rival Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul victory.
"Jake Paul is superior to Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer stated.
"I give him credit for that."
Serious Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake is a serious fighter," he said.
Paul's History
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since becoming pro.
He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in last year.
Commercial Attraction
However, the novice remains one of the sport's largest financial successes, frequently receiving substantial paydays.
Prediction and Belief
The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly being planned for two years from now.
"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.
Physical Difference
As the two fighters engaged in the customary confrontation, with their height and weight contrast evident, it emphasized just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
